Aberdonian house builder Terry Buchan and his wife Kathleen are no strangers to owning property abroad, having had a house in Cyprus for 17 years. However, they wanted something closer to home that was easier to get to.
From the moment they came to CampoReal, they looked no further. Kathleen was so impressed with the 4-bedroom show villa that the couple bought it on the spot.
“We liked the size of the show house, its style, and the lovely views overlooking the 14th and 15th greens. It’s also very convenient for the hotel and all its facilities,” says Kathleen. “We’ve bought it as a holiday home and plan to spend a few months here every summer and maybe at Christmas and New Year. We’re very family oriented and like to holiday with our two daughters and three grandchildren. My eldest granddaughter will love the equestrian centre and my sons-in-law are very much into golf.”
In fact, the Buchans are so keen to get here and settle in, they’re moving in a month early and hoping to buy the show villa furnishings. Having spent a number of happy holidays in Madeira, Terry and Kathleen are looking forward to joining in with the Portuguese life. “We love the food, the people, and there’s so much here to see and do,” says Kathleen. “I’m a keen walker and like the sound of the walking trails - and my husband, though not wild about golf, intends to improve his game.”
