Portugal

Portugal is a popular location for holidays and second homes due to the warm climate, old-world history and culture, spectacular festivals, simple but delicious food and exceptionally friendly people.

The capital Lisbon and the northern city of Porto are both fascinating cities, with cobblestone streets and rattling trams, impressive cathedrals and an active nightlife.

A timeless bond with the sea dominates Portuguese culture. Many late gothic monuments such as the Tower of Belém or the monasteries of Batalha and Tomar bear powerful visual references to Portugal’s proud nautical history. Even the modern Parque das Naçðes, site of the 1998 World Expo, was designed and built with an ocean theme.

Inland, the country is scattered with attractive towns such as Sintra, not far from Lisbon, with striking fairy tale turrets and colonnade walkways waiting to be explored.

Oeste Portugal
The 12 municipalities that make up the Oeste region have a combined population of approximately 350,000 residents. The largest towns in the region are Caldas da Rainha, Torres Vedras and Peniche. Traditionally, the region is famous for its coastal fishing ports, fields of Rocha Pears and many windmills!
